Course Description: This course provides students with a hands-on experience in the Century College clinic to expand their knowledge and develop practical skills necessary for entry-level salon work. This course provides additional experience for students to complete the required services and/or hours for licensure. Students must be able to perform physical tasks to complete course requirements.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course students will be able to:

  1. perform services in a salon setting in compliance with Minnesota laws and rules.
  2. apply professional ethics and communication skills in client interactions.
  3. identify potentially harmful chemicals.
  4. evaluate product options and demonstrate proper use on clients.
  5. demonstrate chemical safety in the salon.
  6. demonstrate proper sanitation procedures.
  7. demonstrate safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste.
