VCT 1076 - Basic Lighting and Photography

Course Description: This course introduces the concepts of working with lighting and equipment in the realm of professional photography. This course covers the quality of light, using natural light, and using a flash unit. Students are required to furnish their own manual exposure digital camera, and other equipment to be identified during class.

  6. identify various traits of flash units including power, slaves, etc.
  7. operate a flash unit.
  8. identify camera sync speed.
  9. use various camera settings while using a flash unit.
  10. identify traits of light including color and quality.
  11. identify various light sources.
  12. identify types of lighting such as low key and high key
  13. bounce light using a flash unit.
  14. create silhouettes using a flash unit.
  15. identify various filters for lenses.
  16. operate a flash unit in manual and auto modes.
