ENGR 2085 - Deformable Body Mechanics Credits: 3 Hours/Week: Lecture None Lab None Course Description: This engineering course examines the internal effects and deformations that are caused by applied loads on a body. Topics include stress and strain, material behavior and linear elasticity, uniaxially loaded members, shafts in torsion, beams in bending, shear and moment diagrams, stress and strain transformation, and design of shafts and beams. - Apply the basic concepts and theories of equilibrium, deformation, and material behavior properties to typical structures.
- Analyze the deflection in beams including statically indeterminate beams.
- Determine shear and moment in beams.

- Construct shear and moment diagrams.
- Analyze composite beams.
- Analyze twist in shafts under torque.
- Design beams and shafts.
