OFFT 2000 - Records Management Credits: 3 Hours/Week: Lecture None Lab None Course Description: This course covers techniques for the control of records and information with emphasis on the four basic methods of filing: alphabetic, numeric, geographic, and subject. Students will investigate and practice how to implement, maintain, and justify a records management system. Current database software is used in this course. MnTC Goals None

Learning Outcomes At the end of this course students will be able to:
- define and use the alphabetic filing procedures of inspecting, indexing, coding, cross-referencing, sorting, and storing
- organize and retrieve information by using alphabetic, numeric, geographic and subject filing rules established by ARMA International.
- use database software to manage records and information.
- identify legal and ethical concerns regarding records management
- describe correct equipment and supplies used in the management of records and information
- design and create a database to manipulate, retrieve, and maintain records
- identify relationship between electronic and image records
