WLDG 1013 - Gas Metal Arc Welding 1 Credits: 4 Hours/Week: Lecture 1 Lab 6 Course Description: This course focuses on personal safety rules, shop equipment procedures, and the development of welding skills in the Short-Circuit, Spray Arc, and Pulse Arc processes on various metals thicknesses and positions. Students must be able to perform physical tasks to complete course requirements. MnTC Goals None

- Personal safety procedures
- Shop and equipment safety rules and procedures
- Set-up, take down, and troubleshooting procedures on GMAW equipment in short-circuit, spray and pules spray mode
- Metal preparation for welding
- Welding sheet metal with short-circuit and pulse spray arc transfer modes in flat and out of position welding
- Welding plate metal with short-circuit, spray and pulse spray transfer mode in flat and out of position welding
- Inspecting welds for defects
