OPCA 1035 - Contemporary Orthotic Theory and Fabrication I Credits: 4 Hours/Week: Lecture 1 Lab 6 Course Description: This course focuses on the skills necessary to create thermoplastic lower extremity orthoses. Practical skills include making negative wraps, creating positive models, modifying positive models, applying components, vacuum forming thermoplastic materials over positive models, and finishing techniques. Fabricated orthoses must meet specific prescription criteria and be ready for patient fitting. Students must be able to perform physical tasks to complete course requirements. Prerequisite(s): OPCA 1025 with a grade of C or higher or concurrently enrolled Corequisite(s): None Recommendation: Concurrently enrolled in OPCA 1010 , OPCA 1015 , OPCA 1025 , OPCA 1045
