Reading Strategies and Skills Sequencing ideas/events and outlining a text Distinguishing fact from opinion Making inferences Responding to questions using information from text and/or background knowledge Stating reasons for agreeing or disagreeing with an author Discussing fiction in terms of setting, character, plot, tone and theme Interpreting charts, graphs, maps, tables, and other graphic material Reading and following directions for academic and technical tasks
