VCT 1027 - Interactive Web Design with JavaScript and jQuery

Course Description: In this hands-on, project-oriented course, students will explore the exciting interactive options available with JavaScript and jQuery. Students will design and create highly interactive Websites to communicate a clients message. The principles and elements of design and the implementation of JavaScript and jQuery with HTML5 and CSS3 will also be covered.

  2. Creating Dynamic Animations with jQuery and CSS3
  3. Creating Dynamic Content with jQuery
  4. Designing Intuitive Navigation
  5. Designing and formatting with CSS3
  6. Interactivity with CSS3 and JavaScript
  7. Object-oriented Programming Fundamentals and JavaScript basics
  8. Planning and Designing Dynamic Web sites
  9. The Browser DOM (Document Object Model)

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course students will be able to:

  1. create dynamic animations with jQuery and CSS3
  2. employ the combination of CSS3 and JavaScript for dynamic, interactive Web pages.
  3. apply the concepts of basic programming fundamentals with JavaScript.
  4. employ creative color techniques as they apply to Web page design.
  5. implement creative Web design solutions with CSS3.
  6. employ a creative information design process.
  7. optimize graphic images for Web page delivery.
  8. employ a creative visual design process.
  9. describe professional-quality websites.
  10. create highly interactive Web sites with JavaScript and jQuery.
  11. critique one¿s own work and that of other students in group discussions.
  12. solve design and technical problems through the use of critical thinking.
