Program Description

The Horticulture Technology certificate provides students with the general education and technical skills to meet the demand for well-trained personnel in the horticulture industry. Graduates will be well versed in woody and herbaceous plants that grow in temperate climates. They will be knowledgeable about plant pests, nursery operations, landscape installation, and grounds maintenance. Graduates of this program may choose to build on this certificate achieve a diploma or an AAS degree.

Program Learning Outcomes

At the end of this program students will be able to:

  • Propagate herbaceous and woody plants
  • Troubleshoot pest, water, soil and location problems of landscape plants.
  • Provide recommendations for installation and management of landscape trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants.
  • Demonstrate a strong work and personal ethic through care of horticultural tools and facilities.
