Program Description
This certificate is designed to provide entrance into the field of photovoltaic energy systems. It is also designed to provide existing contractors and other industry professionals with skills necessary to work in photovoltaic installation and maintenance.
Program Prerequisites
Course placement into ENGL 0950 and RDNG 0950 or above OR completion of RDNG 0940 with a grade of C or higher OR course placement into ESOL 0051 and ESOL 0052 and ESOL 1033 OR completion of ESOL 0041 with a grade of C or higher and ESOL 0042 with a grade of C or higher and ESOL 0043 with a grade of C or higher.

Program Note
For SOLR 1020 there is an additional expense for a smartphone app or pathfinder. See website for details.
If you complete SOLR 1780 for 1 or 2 credits, you must complete additional elective credits to reach the 30 credit total requirement.
Students may substitute MATH 1061 for MATH 1015 by academic petition. Required credit totals are still enforced.

At the end of this program students will be able to:
- Describe the importance of and how to use safety equipment and procedures
- Install solar photovoltaic systems on both residential and commercial applications
- Manage all aspects of the installation part of a photovoltaic solar system
- Service and maintain a photovoltaic solar system
