HIST 1035 - Minnesota History Credits: 3 Hours/Week: Lecture None Lab None Course Description: This first-year course is a survey of the social, political and economic history of Minnesota from its origins to the present. Minnesotans like to think their home is unique among the 50 states, and this course will examine the validity of that. Topics studied include the role of Native Americans, European immigration, economic and political development, the growth of the Twin Cities, and the changing nature of the state’s diverse people and environment. Prerequisite(s): Course placement into college-level English and Reading OR completion of ENGL 0950 with a grade of C or higher OR completion of RDNG 0940 with a grade of C or higher and qualifying English Placement Exam OR completion of RDNG 0950 with a grade of C or higher and ENGL 0090 with a grade of C or higher OR completion of ESOL 0051 with a grade of C or higher and ESOL 0052 with a grade of C or higher.
