Program Description
The Hair Technician certificate includes instruction in theory and practical application techniques of hair services and related topics. Instruction in hair services includes analysis of hair, styling, cutting, coloring, permanent waving, and chemical hair relaxing. This certificate includes preparation for the written exams and practical skill tests required by the Minnesota Board of Cosmetology.

General Requirements for Degrees, Diplomas, and Certificates See Century College Policy 3.17.0.1 Program Note Passing results from state licensing exams and course completion certificate are required to apply for licensure. Program Learning Outcomes At the end of this program students will be able to: -
Apply academic and skill proficiency at an entry level for hair care services. -
Demonstrate effective and appropriate communication with clients. -
Analyze clients’ needs and preferences, recommending products and services as appropriate. -
Identify and interpret Minnesota cosmetology rules and laws. -
Apply ethical business practices in the salon. -
Demonstrate proper safety and sanitation, safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials as governed by Minnesota laws and rules. -
