Program Description

Mental Health Practitioners provide services to adults and/or children with mental illness or emotional challenges under the supervision of a qualified mental health professional. These services may include: completing functional assessments and level of care assessments,  implementing treatment plans, engaging in skill building and education, crisis assessment and intervention, and more. There are also many other mental and behavioral health-related job titles that this certificate prepares students for that involve supporting individuals with mental and behavioral health concerns.

This certificate can be completed either as a stand-alone credential as a way to enter the workforce early, or as a step on the way to completing the Psychology AA degree. All courses in this certificate also count for credit in the Psychology AA degree. This certificate can also be completed by students pursuing careers that require interaction with the public to provide them with additional training in psychology and mental health, as well as skills for working with individuals with mental health concerns.
