Program Description

Service and installation of heating, cooling, and commercial refrigeration equipment. The emphasis is on residential and commercial HVAC as well as commercial refrigeration. To work in the HVAC-R industry, students must obtain the EPA 608 Clean Air Act Certification. As part of the program, students will have the opportunity to take the EPA exam to obtain the required certification. In addition to these core concepts, the General Education courses required will help insure individuals have the necessary oral, written, and critical thinking skills to help them with their professional responsibilities.

Program Learning Outcomes

At the end of this program students will be able to:

  • Service, repair, and replace residential and commercial HVAC-R equipment.
  • Maintain, order, and stock supplies used in HVAC-R service and repair.
  • Perform and keep records of service work completed with residential and commercial customers.
  • Demonstrate proper safety, use, storage, and disposal of refrigerant as governed by the EPA.
  • Demonstrate proper safety and use of tools used in the HVAC-R industry.
