Students will focus on practical applications and hands-on exercises using an electronic health record (EHR) that will be transferable to many prominent EHR systems currently in use in medical clinics. Learning Outcomes At the end of this course students will be able to:
- Explain the importance of electronic health records.
- Compare electronic health records in an inpatient versus outpatient setting.
- Describe prominent electronic health record code sets.
- Create reports using the student edition software program
- Describe prominent electronic health record code sets.
- Compare the use of workstations and wireless devices.
- Describe the HIPAA Privacy Rule and other medicolegal issues related to the electronic health record
- Discuss patient access to electronic health records.
- Describe the flow of medical information into the chart.
- Describe different methods of capturing and recording data.
