TRIN 1021 - Introduction to Translation Credits: 3 Hours/Week: Lecture None Lab None Course Description: This course introduces students to translation history and theories, preparing them for further training in both translation and interpreting. Coursework includes translation of texts from one language to another in different fields and exploration of different online and traditional research methods for source and target language terms. Coursework also includes discussions of equivalence, linguistic and cultural considerations, and preservation of meaning. MnTC Goals None
Prerequisite(s): TRIN 1000 with grade of C or higher or concurrently enrollled. Course placement into college-level English and Reading OR completion of ENGL 0950 with a grade of C or higher OR completion of RDNG 0940 with a grade of C or higher and qualifying English Placement Exam OR completion of RDNG 0950 with a grade of C or higher and ENGL 0090 with a grade of C or higher OR completion of ESOL 0051 with a grade of C or higher and ESOL 0052 with a grade of C or higher; or instructor consent.
