TRIN 1041 - Beginning Skills of Interpreting Credits: 4 Hours/Week: Lecture None Lab None Course Description: This course focuses on development and practice of consecutive interpreting, sight translation, and note-taking skills. Coursework includes relevant theoretical and practical materials related to interpreting. The course covers topic preparation skills in the context of classroom exercises, and application of interpreter codes of ethics and standards of practice in classroom activities. MnTC Goals None
Prerequisite(s): TRIN 1021 with a grade of C or higher, TRIN 1031 with a grade of C or higher, and language proficiency level equivalent to the American College Teachers of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) advanced-high or higher rating in both English and the second language, or instructor consent.
