1. Determine objectives of the assignment and types of interpreting encounters to be shadowed or interpreted with advisor and mentor
2. Observe mentor at interpreting assignments
3. Apply learned interpreting skills and standards of practice/codes of ethics
   1. Introducing the role of the interpreter
   2. Situational management
   3. Consecutive interpreting
   4. Simultaneous interpreting
   5. Sight translation
   6. Documenting interpreting encounters
   7. Preparing for an assignment
      1. Using glossaries and dictionaries appropriately
4. Display professionalism
   1. Arriving on time
   2. Dressing professionally

1. complete the goals agreed upon by the student, the faculty, and the internship supervisor which could include:
   1. create a job description in cooperation with the supervisor.
   2. perform as a member of a team in a work environment.
   3. observe and/or perform interpreting duties as specified by the supervisor.
   4. respond to situations in a manner consistent with the interpreting code of ethics.
   5. document and reflect on hours and performance.
