Program Description

The Accounting Transfer Pathway AS offers students a powerful option: the opportunity to complete an Associate of Science degree with course credits that directly transfer to designated Accounting bachelor’s degree programs at Minnesota State universities.  The curriculum has been specifically designed so that students completing this pathway degree and transferring to one of the seven Minnesota State universities enter the university with junior-year status. All courses in the Transfer Pathway associate degree will directly transfer and apply to the designated bachelor’s degree programs in a related field.

Minnesota State universities include:  Bemidji State University; Metropolitan State University; Minnesota State University, Mankato; Minnesota State University Moorhead; Southwest Minnesota State University; St. Cloud State University; and Winona State University.

Program Learning Outcomes

At the end of this program students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to think critically to identify and solve accounting problems.
  2. Apply accounting concepts and principles in making decisions about business operations.
  3. Integrate management principles in relationship to finance, personnel, products, services, and information.
  4. Apply financial statement analysis to help plan, control, and direct business operations.
  5. Describe the accountant/client relationship.
  6. Apply accounting knowledge to create relevant business documents.
  7. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively.
