Program Description

The Elementary Education Foundations Transfer Pathway AS offers students interested in teaching kindergarten through 6th grade a powerful option: the opportunity to complete an Associate of Science degree with course credits that directly transfer to designated Elementary Education bachelor’s degree programs at Minnesota State universities. The curriculum has been specifically designed so that students completing this pathway degree and transferring to one of the seven Minnesota State universities enter the university with junior-year status. All courses in the Transfer Pathway associate degree will directly transfer and apply to the designated bachelor’s degree programs in a related field.

Minnesota State universities include:  Bemidji State University; Metropolitan State University; Minnesota State University, Mankato; Minnesota State University Moorhead; Southwest Minnesota State University; St. Cloud State University; and Winona State University.

There are additional admission requirements into Elementary Education programs beyond the requirements of the university itself.  Students should check with the Elementary Education Department at the Minnesota State University you are interested in attending for the specific admission criteria to that program.  Requirements may include experience working with and commitment to working with people of color, minimum GPA in specific courses, etc.

  • Analyze culturally responsive curriculum in field experiences.
  • Demonstrate student-centered learning using technology and research-based practices.
  • Create professional electronic portfolios displaying achievement in the field of education.
  • Demonstrate the process of reflective practioner.
