Program Description
The Century College Associate Degree Nursing Program is designed to educate students to begin professional nursing careers and administer safe, culturally-competent, patient-centered nursing care in a variety of healthcare settings in our increasingly diverse communities. The Nursing Program curriculum model is concept-based and is structured with exemplars that build from simple to complex. Emphasis is placed on the development of clinical judgment. Application of learning takes place in a variety of clinical settings and on-campus simulations and lab. Graduates are awarded an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing and are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensing Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and meet the Minnesota State Board of Nursing requirements for licensure.

-
Please refer to the Nursing application information available on the Nursing program web page. Applicants are responsible for knowing the information including any changes as these materials are updated regularly
-
Students are strongly encouraged to consult with an advisor or counselor for academic planning
Special Instructions
Minnesota Department of Human Services requires any individual having contact with patients to complete a background study prior to starting the clinical experience. An individual may be disqualified from having patient contact and would not be permitted to participate in the clinical experience if a clearance is not issued. This would result in the inability to successfully complete the nursing course requirements. The Minnesota Board of Nursing requires all new licensure applicants to complete an FBI Fingerprint Federal Background Study. Results of this study may affect a new licensure applicant’s ability to become licensed as a Registered Nurse in Minnesota.
To protect the health of the people students care for, our clinical partners require students to fulfill certain health requirements including vaccinations. See the nursing program web page for further information.

Some of the general education courses may be offered ONLY day or evening. For most students, the time for completion of this degree is longer than two years, due to student preference for completing many of the general education courses prior to starting the nursing courses. Nursing courses start each Fall and Spring Semesters.
Transfer, Articulation Agreements, and Partnerships
See the Century College website for information regarding transfer.
This degree program is designed for both employment preparation and transfer. Some of the courses may not transfer to a number of four-year colleges. If you are considering the possibility of transfer, you may wish to talk with your advisor, counselor, or program instructor before registering to discuss your goals, look at programs designed for transfer, and develop a plan. A Minnesota statewide nursing articulation agreement provides articulation agreements to students who pursue their bachelor’s degree from most baccalaureate nursing programs offered throughout the state.
