ABOD 2030 - Major Collision Lab

Course Description: In this course, students will focus on analysis of impact damage from a major collision and determine strategies for repairs. Topics include determining the extent of damage to structural steel body panels and repairing, welding, or replacing in accordance with vehicle manufacturers’ specifications. Students must be able to perform physical tasks to complete course requirements.

  1. Impact damage to mechanical parts
  2. Datum plane
  3. Centerline concepts
  4. Types of body damage, including twist, mash, sag, and sidesway

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course students will be able to:

  1. repair damaged mechanical parts of the vehicle based on impact damage analysis.
  2. straighten unibody vehicles using datum plane and centerline concepts.
  3. repair various types of body damage, including twist, mash, sag, and sidesway.
  4. repair vehicle to industry standards.
