3DMA 1145 - Animation 1 Credits: 3 Hours/Week: Lecture 2 Lab 1 Course Description: This class focuses on the creation of 3D animation and developing an understanding of the 12 principles of animation, such as squash and stretch, anticipation, timing, and more. Projects include planning and creating numerous simple 3D animations using these principles as well as the basics of bipedal character movement and facial animation. MnTC Goals None
Prerequisite(s): 3DMA 1143 with a grade of “C” or higher Corequisite(s): None Recommendation: Basic computer skills.

Learning Outcomes At the end of this course students will be able to:
- observe the difference between pose to pose and straight ahead animation.
- identify the use and purpose of silhouettes and blocking on animation.
- create multiple bipedal 3D animations
- apply the 12 Principles of Animation
- apply planning techniques to the development of animations.
- explore the importance of research and reference on animation.
