Program Description

As technology advances, our culture continues to generate more and more data. This phenomenon has been called “Big Data,” and analysts are needed to convert Big Data into usable information that helps people make decisions. People trained in Big Data analytics can do this important work. Students completing the Applied Big Data Analytics certificate curriculum will develop highly marketable skills and knowledge that prepare them to enter today’s Big Data industry in public and private sectors such as retail, manufacturing, and government. In particular, graduates can perform searches and create reports based on business analytics, internal operations, or security operations from given datasets; they can install, configure, operate, and maintain Hadoop; they can use Splunk to generate security alerts, interactive dashboards, visualizations, and other business intelligence; and they can address security and privacy issues.
